In september 2018 I started a new project about the Black Sea, inspired by my earlier project and book Man-made Coast in which I followed the Dutch North Sea coast.
In the coming years I will follow the coastline of the Black Sea to document the way people live along the Black Sea coast and I will try to show the unique landscapes and cities in each of the seven countries around its coast as well as the great historic and cultural diversity along its shores.
The countries on the Black Sea are: Turkey, Georgia, Abchazia (without international recognition), Russia, Ukraine,Rumania and Bulgaria.
September 2018 I followed the coastline between the Turkish city of Trabzon to the Georgian city of Poti and in april 2019 I made a journay along the Bulgarian coast. Next on the programme will be Ukraine.
