Cyprus, the abandoned airport

Cyprus

The international airport of the Cypriotic capital Nicosia has been closed down in 1974 because to the heavy fighting at that time between Greek and Turkish forces in the Cyprus conflict. Since then the abandoned airport is widely in decay and has become a fascinating relict of the past and a symbol of the Cypriotic division. The airport is situated within the bufferzone under UN control between the two parts of Cyprus the Greek and the Turkish sectors of the divided island.
